Dogs are undoubtedly man’s best friend and they can understand human’s emotions much sooner than any other animal. We have an old saying which states that you one can’t expect his children to loyal to him but he can expect that from a dog. Just because he can understand human emotions in a better way, they are being found to be so helpful to us. However, you have to train them to make them helpful. By nature, they are quite fierce and in order to control that, we need to know how to train a dog and make him do different tricks that reduces their ferocity to a certain extent.
Shake Hands:- If you think by teaching your dog to shake hands, you’re making him civilized, then you must be somewhat correct. You first need to make him sit and say “Shake Hands”. Simultaneously, take his paw in your hand and stroke it evenly. Do it a couple of times so that the dog understands what you mean by shaking hands. While you do this activity, ensure that you keep saying “Shake Hands”. This way the dog will learn it faster.
Turn Around:- You can teach him to go merry go round. For this, you need to hold a treat in your hand and make the dog face you. You then need to move your hand along with the treat in a clockwise motion so the dog also moves seeing the treat in your hand. While doing this, you may say things like “Doggie turn around” and after he completes the circle, give him the treat. You may want to do this exercise for some time till he picks it up completely.
Make him crawl:- You can make your dog crawl and would love to see him doing that. To teach this, you need to make him lie on the floor and hold a treat close to his nose. Ask him to crawl to get the treat. If he tries to stand, you just say “No, doggie crawl and take it”. You can also keep the treat a bit away from him on the ground and ask him to crawl and take it. When you see the dog moves a bit towards the stuff, you applaud him. The dog will understand that you like his effort and after trying this exercise for few more times, he will just master it.
Teach him to say “Please”:- You make the dog sit on the ground and hold a treat above him and tell him to say “Please”. The dog won’t literally say that but will lift his front legs to reach the treat. You can then give it off to him. You can try this for some days and will find him learn some manners.
Speak with him:- Dogs can quickly understand what we say. However, you also have to work hard to teach him. You can go to a park with a ball and throw the ball away. Ask him to go and fetch the ball for you. This will be a difficult activity because at times the dog might just not go. You got to deal with this diligently. In this exercise, the dog learns to understand what you speak and also learn to fetch things by picking it up in their mouth.
